Born 1974 in Alexandria for an Egyptian father and a Russian mother, she moved to Russia at the age of six with her family then returned Egypt in 1991, where she participated at the Cairo Opera House as a ballet dancer. After a TV appearance in Fawazeer Ramadan (Ramadan’s Riddles, 1999), she got the attention of Egyptian star Faten Hamama who offered her a role in the TV series Wagh El-Kamar (FACE OF THE MOON, 2000). Karim won Best Actress Award at Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) 2004 for her role in Enta Omry (MY SOULMATE) and both Jury Grand Prize at Asia Pacific Screen Awards and Best Actress at Arab Film Festival 2012 for her role in the acclaimed film 678. In 2016, she served as jury member for Horizons Section of the 73rd edition of Venice Film Festival.
