Born 1948 in Korba, he is a writer and a filmmaker. At the age of eighteen, he was awarded a UNESCO fellowship to study cinema in Paris. Ten years later, Khemir completed his first film THE HISTORY OF GOD'S COUNTRY (1975), a documentary on illegal migration. His following narratives WANDERERS OF THE DESERT (1984), THE DOVE'S LOST NECKLACE (1991) and BAB'AZIZ (2005) are the three parts of his acclaimed and award-winning DESERT TRILOGY.
