Born 1966, he studied cinematography at the Higher Institute of Cinema. Shafiq went to become the director of photography of large number of Egyptian popular films, including The Dresser (2001), Zaki Shan (2005), Me or My Aunty (2005), Made-Up Bump (2006), A Lion and Four Cats (2007), Abdo Mootah (2012), Black February (2013), A Better Tomorrow (2014), along with a number of television serials.
