Born 1952, he studied film direction at the Higher Institute of Cinema after graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy. Aly made his film debut with Ya Donia Ya Gharami (1996) that was followed by Hero (1998), Girls’ Secrets (2001), Fawzeya's Secret Recipe (2009) and Nile Birds (2009).
