Born 1967 Angers, France, to a family of Cameroonian immigrants, Ebouaney never showed during his childhood an interest in acting and was set on becoming a businessman. However, at the age of thirty, he joined a theater company and quit his job as a sales manager to become a professional actor. Eriq Ebouaney is best known for his portrayal as the Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba in the 2000 film Lumumba shown in Cannes Festival. In addition to the recent Senegalese film Dakar Trottoirs (2013), he also appeared in international films like Brian De Palma's Femme Fatale, in Transporter 3 opposite Jason Statham and in 3 Days to Kill opposite Kevin Costner.
