Was born and raised in Kigali, Rwanda. In 2017 he graduated from the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD-Genève) with a major in Cinema. His film career started in Rwanda in 2010, where after a few cinema workshops he started making short films with his friends. Samuel also worked as a journalist and photographer before pursuing Cinema as a full time career. His graduation film IMFURA premiered at Berlin International Film Festival and won the Silver Bear award for short film. It has since then travelled in festivals around the world
